This post presented in partnership with the Harley-Davidson Museum.
Since 1903, Milwaukee has been the home of Harley-Davidson, so it’s the only place that can host a true Hometown Rally. And that is exactly what is happening.
The Hometown Rally takes place Labor Day weekend – Thursday, September 1 through Monday, September 5 – at the Harley-Davidson Museum’s 20-acre campus and six surrounding Harley-Davidson dealerships. The whirlwind weekend includes live events, exhibits, motorcycle demonstrations, food, drink, camaraderie and more.
Here are seven reasons to visit this Mecca for bikers:
1. Take a demo ride on the wild side
Thinking of a brand new HD? Who is not. So make your wishes come true – at least for a few miles – and test drive a 2022 model of your choice, including Nightster™, Sportster® S, Pan America™ Special and ST models. Go here for dates, times and locations throw a leg on a dream.
2. Waterfalls in front
Be wowed by the daily stunts of Northern California’s unknown industries. These guys describe themselves as “a team of Harley riders who travel to shoot videos and have fun!” Yeah, we can get behind that. After here.
3. Van Halen, KISS, Motley Crue, Queen, Journey, Aerosmith
Do you like these artists? Just like the organizers of the Hometown Rally. So, they booked, among other acts, the legendary Hairball to play. For 20 years, Hairball has brought the glory of 80s metal to thousands of fans. They’re probably packing their bandanas right now and getting ready to rock fans insanely on Thursday, September 1. 4. Limited Edition Hometown Rally Merchandise
Prove you were there with a 2022 Hometown Rally t-shirt, hoodie or other memorabilia. These are available exclusively at the Harley-Davidson Store on the museum campus while supplies last.
5. HOG Rally Challenge
Members of the Harley Owners Group love to ride and so will you. Visit all six Milwaukee dealerships, check in and collect the six dealership rally tokens, and stop by the HOG tent at the HD Museum to receive a special gift from HOG For a list of dealerships and more, go here and click on the orange “Download Now” box.
6. No guys allowed
The bikers will rally strong during this ride. It kickstands-up at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 2 at the HD Museum. This is a police escorted trip. The cost is $20, with all proceeds going to Road Guardians. Registration is mandatory; go here.
7. Two words: beef brisket nachos
During the Rally, MOTOR, the bike-themed bar and restaurant on the HD Museum campus, will offer its whole menu, including delicious brisket nachos. This basket of meat and cheese is probably the best thing to happen to bikers since the invention of gasoline. (Maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but you gotta try these bad boys.)
