Berea has again been touted as a tourist destination recently, according to Southern Living magazine.
Berea’s director of business development and tourism, Donna Angel, announced the selection at Wednesday’s meeting of Berea’s tourism commission.
Ranked among the 15 most scenic mountain communities in the region, Berea was listed in an article titled “The Best Mountain Towns of the South 2022”.
Making Berea one of the favorite destinations is the town’s proximity to Berea College Forest, home to the Pinnacles and Indian Fort. The network of shared-use trails was another contributing factor in the town’s selection, according to the magazine, as Berea can now boast a total of 30 miles of nearby trails, including 15 miles of trails for use. shared within the city limits. A new addition is three miles of mountain bike trails at the new Silver Creek Bike Park, which was fully funded by the Berea Tourism Commission.
Citing its unique history and role in desegregating higher education, Berea College was another reason the town was tapped as one of the best mountain towns in the South to visit this tourist season.
Angel said the news was encouraging.
