Show up for a better bike path – The Town of Carpinteria Planning Commission is meeting to consider whether to allow a trail that would forever alter the shoreline and the way it has been used for years.
Do you commute by bike or do you ride for fun on weekends? Do you like the many trails along the coast and foothills? Join us and let Carpinteria know how we want the Rincon Trail to connect with existing bike paths.
The Town of Carpinteria Planning Commission will hold a special meeting to consider whether to permit a trail that would forever alter the coastline and dump cyclists in a busy parking lot. If the Rincon Trail is built as planned, it will also remove enough soil from the south side of the ridge to ruin airflow and destroy a long standing coastal site. We ask the City of Carpinteria to put in place an alternative that preserves the flow of air along the cliff and allows us to retain the use of the flight site.
A coalition forms between cyclists, pilots and other groups in favor of a path on the north side of the cliffs. This design will be easier to build, safer for cyclists and trail users, cost less, and preserve the tradition of flight.
Join us by attending the next meeting of the Town of Carpinteria Planning Commission on the Rincon Trail.
