Collection of bicycle donations for children accepting donations on October 8 in 26 locations

Residents of Minnesota and western Wisconsin can donate bikes or volunteer to help with the distribution for the 12e annual bike ride by Allina Health and Free Bikes 4 Kidz Minnesota next month.

New or lightly used bikes can be dropped off at 26 different Allina Health locations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 8.

See a full list of locations HERE. Most are hospitals and clinics, with the exception of Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Stillwater.

Allina asks people to spread the word about the ride, adding that the ride accepts bikes suitable for able-bodied children and children with disabilities.

Those interested in volunteering can register here. Volunteers are expected to help clean the bikes and get them ready for distribution in the spring.

Children will receive bike safety information and a helmet when they receive their bike.

In a press release, the health system said the goal was to contribute to a “happier and healthier” childhood for children in the region.

“As a healthcare organization, we recognize that good health habits start early,” said Lisa Shannon, CEO of Allina Health.
