NEW YORK (CBSNew York) – Police said a delivery man was killed and his electric bike stolen on the Lower East Side on Saturday.
Police released a new video on Sunday and said they needed help identifying the suspect seen wearing a hoodie, CBS2’s Christina Fan reported.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the 51-year-old delivery driver to death as he robbed the victim of his electric bicycle.
Officers found the victim near Sara D. Roosevelt Park around 1 a.m. Saturday with a facial injury and a stab in the stomach.
Maurice DuBois of CBS2 recently spoke with two delivery people, who said their jobs constantly put them at risk of being robbed.

After dozens of workers were beaten up and deprived of their bikes and livelihoods while on the job, they formed a group called The Delivery Boys to patrol the Willis Avenue Bridge after their shifts.
“Every day I am afraid that something else could happen to me on the street,” Cheick Mohamed, a 26-year-old immigrant from Mali, told DuBois.
In a recent survey, 54% of delivery people, many of them immigrants, said they had been robbed. About 30% said they were assaulted during the theft.
Saturday’s stabbing marked the 11th delivery man killed on the job in 2021.
