We are delighted that one of our city’s favorite Asian restaurants is back to serving Glasgowians with great pleasure as the hospitality industry begins to emerge from the covid pandemic.
Hanoi Bike Shop can arguably be considered a western institution – tucked away on Ruthven Lane just off the busy Byres Road, it’s surely one of the most attractive places in the city with its painted walls. bright blue and its rustic Asian aesthetic that invites you inside.
And the menu is also something special – spring rolls and sticky chicken, okara cakes and rice paper rolls and of course, that hearty and sacred pho.
But while these amazing dishes unsurprisingly remain popular, Hanoi Bike Shop has quietly built a reputation for their excellent organic tofu made from scratch, so much so that the most ordered item on the menu is their appetizing black pepper and iced soy. tofu dish, garnished with marinated mushrooms and crispy shallots.
Of course, we live in a city that is often considered one of the most vegetarian and vegan in the world and we shouldn’t be surprised to see orders pouring in for tofu from Hanoi Bike Shop. But if you haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, whether you’re a vegetarian, vegan or not, we highly recommend that you do so.
And to tease you further, we took a trip to Hanoi for the day to see the incredibly talented chef Jake show us the entire tofu-making process, before he cooks this delicious number one tofu dish for us, capturing all of this on camera.
