Mike Blout has circled the block more than once.
The same goes for his dazzled 1999 Harley Davidson Electra Glide with 374,000 miles on it.
Blout, from Bristol, has crossed the country five or six times with his wife on this motorbike, an ex-police motorbike.
On Wednesday he was at Laconia Motorcycle Week hanging out and talking to other bikers.
Since 1964, he has participated in Bike Week, now in its 99th year. His favorite memory is the 1965 riot which attracted a huge police presence.
“It wasn’t really a riot,” he laughs. “Someone ran over someone on a bicycle and they decided to overturn their car. We have just started running on the boulevard. It had nothing to do with killing, shooting and fighting. They blew it up. »
Held June 11-19, Laconia Bike Week, considered the oldest motorcycle rally in the world, attracts thousands of bikers from all over the country who descend on the Lake District at this time of year. Many of the surrounding restaurants and venues offer shows and events, including New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon and Makris Lobster and Steak House in Concord.
The weather throughout the weekend seems clear, cool and dry, perfect for motorcycling.
