Man visits Darlington as part of 350 mile cycling challenge



A 350 mile charity bike ride takes place this week from Grimsby, Scotland to raise funds for Crohn’s & Colitis UK. The group of 12 stops in Darlington on Tuesday.

Kerry McWhirter died after surgery was delayed due to the Covid pandemic. At just 34 when she lost her battle with inflammatory bowel disease, Kerry was a beloved character and a devoted mother.

Most weekends, Lee and Kerry traveled 350 miles from Lee’s house near Grimsby to Kerry’s house in Hamilton, Scotland to see each other. Lee will travel this distance with a group of friends to raise funds for Crohn’s & Colitis UK.

“The most important thing to impress on anyone is that we also raise awareness of this hidden and debilitating disability. While this is incredibly common, not many people know it, ”Lee said.

The group departed Humberston near Grimsby on the morning of Monday September 20 and will run 60 to 70 miles per day until Friday 24.
