Masked bikers ‘threaten people with a blade and demand phones’ in Telford


Two men on dirt bikes attempted to steal mobile phones from residents of a town in Shropshire. The men are said to have worn masks and wielded a blade in Telford.

The incidents took place on Silkin Way near the A442 at around 10.30pm on Monday April 4. The first victim, a man, was accosted by the men before one of them threatened him with a bladed weapon.

The armed suspect asked the victim to hand over his cell phone. But he was able to get away with his phone unscathed.

Shortly after, the men approached a second victim and asked him to hand over his phone as well. The victim suspected that one of the men had a weapon and also managed to get away with his phone unscathed.

West Mercia Police said the suspects were described as white males, between the ages of 25 and 35, and of slim build. Both wore face coverings.

The first man was described as wearing a dark green or olive hoodie and riding a blue and white dirt bike. The second man was described as wearing a dark colored hoodie and riding either a red and white or blue and white dirt bike.

A force spokesperson said: ‘Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have dash cam or CCTV footage is asked to contact West Mercia Police in citing the April 4 705i incident or by visiting our website. Alternatively, if you have information but don’t feel comfortable talking to the police, you can turn to the independent charity Crimestoppers.

“It’s 100% anonymous, they never ask your name and they can’t trace your call or IP address. You can contact them at or 0800 555 111.”
