M’laya Joins Pan-Indian Launch of Legal Awareness and Awareness Program


SHILLONG / TURA, October 2: Meghalaya joined on Saturday the Pan-Indian launch of the legal awareness and awareness program held as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
According to a statement on Saturday, the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority held a bicycle rally and clean-up campaign to mark the launch here.
Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice Biswanath Somadder at the launch event reported on the bicycle rally from the premises of the High Court. The rally covered the main areas of Shillong.
The Chief Justice, during the event, stressed the need to make justice accessible to all.
Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority Special Duty Officer TT M Sangma spoke about the importance of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and the events scheduled until November 14 by the service institutions legal authorities of Meghalaya.
The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority also organized a later clean-up campaign at Khyndai Lad, Keating Road, Jail Road and Bivar Road.
The clean-up campaign was organized in collaboration with Meghalaya High Court, District Legal Services Authority, Shillong and East Khasi Hills District Administration, PWD, Police Department, Team Jiva, Lions Club and the residents of Police Bazaar, Keating Road, Jail Road, Bivar Road, Secretariat Hill and Oakland Road.

Meanwhile, in West Garo Hills, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority, organized a clean-up campaign at the premises of the District and Sessions Judge Court and Judicial Magistrate Court Complex to to mark the pan-Indian launch of the program.
She also organized a cleaning campaign in the police stations in collaboration with the Office of the Police Commissioner and in Sella Wari in collaboration with the Nokmas and the villagers of Dalmagre, Gongronggre, Songkonggre, Do.renggre, Sasatgre, Do.pananggre, Wa .kantagre. and Asibra.
