GLASWEGIANS are being encouraged to ditch their cars with a special offer on the city’s bike-sharing scheme.
Commuters will be able to rent OVO bikes, operated by nextbike, at half price for the next few weeks.
Nextbike offers 30 days of unlimited 30-minute rentals for just £5, which is equivalent to a month’s subscription at half price.
As the days get longer and the weather warms up, nextbike hopes the offer will encourage more riders to pedal to work.
Cycling in the office is good for the environment, but also for our health, according to nextbike.
It can prevent nearly 140 kg of CO2 per person per year from entering the atmosphere, while helping people burn more than 200 calories per day.

Nextbike UK MD, Krysia Solheim, said: “It has been almost six months since the climate crisis was highlighted in Glasgow thanks to the city hosting the COP26 climate conference.
“We encourage people to remember the discussions and think about small changes they can make to help reduce their own carbon footprint.
“If enough people change their minds and take an OVO bike instead of using a car for their usual journeys, it could have a big impact.
“Not only that, but people would also reap the physical and mental health benefits that come with cycling.”
The Spring Rides campaign is live now and will run until May 15 – but people need to be quick, as only 1,500 of the offers are up for grabs.
To take advantage of the offer, people must claim the RIDESPRING voucher in the nextbike app and then purchase a monthly pass within seven days.
