Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – Rochester Police are investigating two violent incidents of robbery reported over the weekend.
The premiere occurred on Saturday shortly after midnight. A 24-year-old man was riding his bike home when an SUV crashed into him in block 2300 of 19th St NW and then pulled to a stop. The victim – who is black – said a white man came out and started yelling racial slurs at him. The victim said the man then started hitting him on the stomach and leg with a crowbar. The man took the victim’s wallet, phone – and his bike – and set off in the SUV, which was being driven by another person. The victim described the attacker as being Caucasian in his mid-thirties, 5 to 11 years old and weighing 180 pounds. The SUV was an older dark model.
The other incident happened on Sunday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1900 block of SE 17th Street. Two men in their 50s were smoking around 7:30 p.m. when a man walked up, pulled out a gun and asked for their wallets. When the men realized the weapon was a BB pistol, they refused. The man then hit both men on the head with his gun, threatened to shoot one of them and fled. The two men were treated on the spot for their injuries. They described the potential thief as a Somali, 6 feet tall and with a slim build. He was wearing a face mask.
