An FIR has been registered against former Uttar Pradesh minister and top Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abhishek Mishra and others for staging a bike rally in breach of restraining orders and breaching Covid protocols .
The FIR was recorded at Hasanganj police station after a video of the rally went viral on social media.
Deputy Inspector Abhay Kumar Singh said two videos went viral on Hasanganj Police’s WhatsApp group.
“The video was streamed live on Instagram from the identity of a certain Razi Hasan Samajwadi. road from Sitapur to Pucca Pul. None of the participants were wearing masks. They were walking out of the rally in a show of force from their party and their act may spread coronavirus infection,” the police official said.

He said those in the video were identified as the former minister, Razi Hasan, Raghvendra Bajpai, Vaibhav Mishra, Tanvir Ali and Vaibhav Bajpai.
“About 10 to 12 other people in the video could not be identified and we are trying to verify their identities,” he said.
The defendants were convicted of breaching restraining orders restricting a gathering of four or more people, negligently doing any act likely to spread infection of any life-threatening disease.
Additional Northern Zone Police Commissioner Prachi Singh said further investigations were ongoing.
Gautam Palli police three days ago filed a complaint against 2,500 SP workers for breaching Covid protocols after a huge crowd gathered at the SP office for the former minister’s membership of BJP Swami Prasad Maurya.
Later, House station officer Dinesh Singh Bisht was suspended on the directive of the Election Commission.
