Suspects identified, police say situation under control

Karauli (Rajasthan) [India]April 3 (ANI): Police have identified suspects in connection with the clashes in Karauli in Rajasthan.
SS Indoliya, Superintendent of Police (SP), Karauli said the situation is under control in the district where 30 to 35 people including six cops were injured in Saturday’s incident.
“As many as 30 to 35 people were injured on Saturday. The overall situation is under control. Few suspects have been identified. One case will be registered in this incident for further investigation,” the SP said.

“Six police officers were also injured and an investigation is underway to assess the casualties,” he said.
Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) was imposed in Karauli district, Rajasthan, on Saturday and the internet was shut down after stones were thrown during a religious procession that day. Article 144 was imposed on Karauli from 6:30 p.m. on April 2 to 00:00 a.m. on April 4.
“Section 144 was imposed in Karauli from 6:30 p.m., April 2, until 12:00 a.m., April 4, in connection with a case of stone-throwing during a ‘Shobha Yatra’ (bicycle rally) in Internet services also shut down in the region on April 2 and 3 (until midnight),” Deputy Minister Rajendra Singh Shekhawat of Karauli said.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Sunday that strict measures will be taken against the perpetrators of the Karauli violence, regardless of their community, so that everyone receives the message that only the rule of law will prevail in Rajasthan. (ANI)
