The 7th TDCP Thal Desert Rally starts from the 17


LAHORE: The 7th Thal Desert Rally of Tourism Development Corporation Pakistan (TDCP) will be held from November 17-20, 2022. More than 100 professional drivers are expected to join the nine categories of the rally. A motorcycle race will also be organized on the occasion in which more than 20 off-road motorcycles will participate.

A trophy unveiling ceremony was held at a local hotel. There are trophies and cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. The award ceremony will take place at Faisal Stadium, Muzaffargarh. At present, 70 people have registered for the jeep rally and the tourism department is confident that the number will exceed 100. The Thal Rally will cover a 200 km track and culminate in Muzaffargarh.

The general manager of TDCP said that a technical examination of the vehicles will be carried out at Chhanga Manga Tila. “We want to deepen the influence of our activity. Thal Rally is the first to be organized at the request of the people of Layyah,” he said.

There will be a cultural evening at Chobara, a tehsil of Layyah. During this fair, locals will set up stalls and sell their handicrafts amidst the fireworks. Development continues in the region. The event will also contribute to the socio-economic development of the region where rally drivers will showcase their skills during the three-day event.

Punjab Tourism Secretary Asia Gull said, “The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) is organizing this gathering in two districts of Muzaffargarh and Layyah to showcase them as a winter tourism destination and promote motor sports in Pakistan. After the great popularity of the Cholistan Desert Rally, the Thal Desert Rally has also gained popularity in the vicinity of the Thal Desert.

Pak Wheels is sponsoring Thal jeep rally 2022. Pak Wheels CEO Sunil Munj hoped the rally would attract people. When asked if any women were also participating in the jeep rally, he replied, “There were 9 women participating in the rally in the Sarfaranga desert in Gilgit Baltistan and 6 of them were locals. This time too there are 6-7 females and it’s really encouraging. There is no barrier for women. They should show up and participate in the sport. Pak Wheels made a video on how to ride a bike. We encourage women to become active and independent,” he said.

Jeep rallies are adventurous tourism in two deserts of Punjab – Cholistan and Thal. Cholistan Jeep Rally has been running since 2005. In Cholistan there were 8 female drivers in the last rally. The TDCP secretary said the tourism department is doing development along Derawar Fort with the idea of ​​building something like the Dubai Desert Safari here, it has been reported. Tourism Secretary, MD Tourism, drivers and media were also present at the ceremony.
