This is one of the phrases, if not the most common, that we hear spoken by people who denigrate cyclists, normally when discussing a road safety problem unrelated to… “and all the cyclists who do not know what to do with it. stop at red lights? ”

Well, those damn cyclists have gone undercover. Five drivers, including a London cab driver and a person on a bicycle, are seen rushing through this temporary traffic light that lights up red.

CyclingMikey got involved by suggesting that Greg bring back the video for probable prosecution.

Others wondered if the lights had remained on red for a while …

Now we’re assuming Greg isn’t up yet waiting for the lights to change, and has finally gotten the green light he’s been waiting for … but here’s what the relevant section of the Highway Code says:

You MUST NOT step forward on the white line when the red light is on. Proceed only when the lights are green if there is room for you to exit the intersection safely or if you are taking a position to turn right. If the traffic lights are not working, treat the situation as if it were an unmarked intersection and proceed with extreme caution.

> Highway code changes to protect cyclists will come into effect next month

Greg responded to a driver saying he stuck to the rules of the road …
